And not for cold weather either!
It’s the new year and my kids are back in school after the two-week break. I, however, missed most of the break. Working two straight weeks of overnight shifts (the first time ever) and sleeping most of my days away, I did manage to squeak in a bit of time with the chillins and Christmas…I think… but the rest was a slumber marathon. But I digress.
I know kids get clothes for Christmas (which they typically hate) but after dropping my little man off in his Transitional Kindergarten class, I homed in on all the other kids walking with their parents to their classrooms. One thing hit me like a soggy pair of underwear.
Why do these kids look like they all just stepped out of a Gap Kids ad? It’s cute, I guess, but fluffy tutu skirts, striped leggings, Ugg boots, fuzzy scarves and retro jean jackets? What the hell ever happened to just throwing on clothes and going to school to learn and play on the playground? RECESS!!! Hate to rip that tutu skirt on the jungle gym.
I understand I live in a “higher income” city, but when your kid looks like they should be on the runway vs. the playground just to go to school, something is wrong with the parents. HELLO! They’re no more than 11 years old! They don’t even know what fashion is not to mention they’ll be grown out of that God-awful skirt in two weeks. Maybe you could cut back and put that extra money you spent on that amazing HAT into a college fund… or maybe the parents think their kid will get by on their fashion sense.
I’ll continue to put my little man in jeans, sweat pants and t-shirts… he doesn’t need to LOOK gorgeous… he IS gorgeous… no BS primping needed, thank you very much.
